AN ACT

RELATING TO COUNTIES; PROVIDING FOR A REIMBURSEMENT TO COUNTY SHERIFFS FOR TRANSPORTING CERTAIN PEOPLE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of Chapter 4, Article 44 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] SHERIFFS, DEPUTY SHERIFFS AND GUARDS--EXPENSES INCURRED IN TRANSPORTING INMATES.--Sheriffs, deputy sheriffs and guards shall be paid per diem expenses at the rate authorized in the Per Diem and Mileage Act by counties on behalf of which expenses are incurred in service of transporting an inmate, person charged with the commission of a crime or person in the custody of a law enforcement agency."
