AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE SUPREME COURT TO CONVENE A TASK FORCE TO STUDY THE GAPS IN LEGAL SERVICES FOR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND TO MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF COST-EFFECTIVE LEGAL PROGRAMS TO ADDRESS THOSE GAPS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the supreme court for expenditure in fiscal year 2026 to convene a task force to study the gaps in legal services for victims of domestic violence and to make recommendations for the design and implementation of cost-effective legal programs to address those gaps. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2026 shall revert to the general fund.
