A MEMORIAL

DECLARING FEBRUARY 10, 2025 "LAW ENFORCEMENT APPRECIATION DAY" IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

 

     WHEREAS, thousands of law enforcement officers are employed across New Mexico; and

     WHEREAS, law enforcement officers serve municipalities, counties, universities, tribes and the state; and

     WHEREAS, the New Mexico state police provides protection for the legislature while it is in session; and

     WHEREAS, law enforcement officers face dangerous and difficult situations to protect their communities; and

     WHEREAS, law enforcement officers may experience physical and mental health issues during the course of their service; and

     WHEREAS, law enforcement agencies are lacking in resources to adequately perform many job duties; and

     WHEREAS, in recent years, law enforcement officers have not been shown the respect they deserve, resulting in law enforcement officer shortages across the state;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that February 10, 2025 be declared "Law Enforcement Appreciation Day" in the house of representatives; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the chief of the New Mexico state police, the executive director of the New Mexico sheriffs' association for distribution to each county sheriff, the New Mexico municipal league and the police and sheriff's departments of New Mexico's Indian nations, tribes and pueblos and the federal bureau of Indian affairs.
